As candidates who hold conservative beliefs and live according to those principles and values it affords us the ability to implement what we believe to be the best tools to represent our school district as we do not take an all or nothing approach to policy driven decisions.
We also realize that others on the board and the community, whether maintain conservative beliefs or not may have different feelings and opinions and it will require an ability and willingness from all members to put aside any political ideologies and do what is best for the students and community at large. We have that ability and willingness and have proven it over the course of our careers and prior experience on the BOE.
A few terms that we believe help to define our conservative beliefs are as follows:
A vote for Zanet, Marshall and Scuorzo will allow for the continued trend that our current BOE members have taken to provide a safe, secure, nurturing and productive educational experience.
(Ms. Zanet):
Good afternoon and thank you for reaching out.
I am not affiliated with any such group(s) mentioned or ever have been.
In regards to disclosure to parents of a child who believes himself/herself to be anything other than who they were when arriving for the first day of kindergarten, I stand firm in my belief that parental disclosure and involvement in a safe manner is crucially important for the benefit and proper development of a child. Keyword is child.
A developing k-8 child in the soft age of 5–14-year-old has yet to reach full developmental maturity and is yet to have the full capacity to know or understand all potential long-term consequences for such a decision. Parents are responsible for the upbringing of their children.
We will spare no time or effort in seeking out the best legal means and professional advice to the needs of and provide the security, the safety and the well-being of all MTPS students.
Best regards,
Dora Zanet

(Mr. Marshall):
Thank you for your interest in learning more about us.
We are not part of any of the groups you mentioned in your email and we have not asked for or received any endorsements from them.
My Facebook group, Purely Politics, is not limited to any specific political party and is open to all who wish to discuss more global and federal issues as opposed to local issues as our members are not limited to our geographical area. It was formed to allow for political discussion for topics that are typically not limited in scope to our local concerns although some topics are applicable to a wide range of localities, states and even countries. It was also formed as to not take away from the original premise for most of the local community pages/groups which is for local events, topics, queries and upcoming elections in our town.
I do not regularly post to that group, although I do occasionally as well as comment on topics that are of interest to me. I do not plan to remove myself from that group as it in no way interferes with my role as a BOE member as I have never let politics enter into my decision making when I previously served on the Board.
If you read my bio, you will see that I have a great deal of experience in healthcare, received certifications and am fairly well versed in HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act). Therefore, I will never do anything, promote anything or vote for anything that would be a direct violation of HIPAA laws.
I hope I have answered your questions and concerns, if not, please let me know and I will do my best to do so.
Again, thank you for reaching out and I ask for your vote.
Craig Marshall, Candidate for Marlboro Board of Education.

(Ms. Scuorzo):
Thank you for your questions.
I am not affiliated with any group that you have mentioned.
To address your concern regarding students with 504s and IEPs...I am a special ed teacher. These are legal documents that are confidential and are only shared with the parents of the student and the teachers/professionals that will be attending to that student and make sure that a child receives the special services and support he or she is in need of.
A child in such age would not fully know what support or help to ask for without the guidance of his/her parents, teachers and the case manager involved where the child’s parents/legal guardians must approve and sign such documents once they are satisfied that their child's needs are effectively met.
My experience has taught me that parents are naturally tremendous advocates for their children and the most successful students have involved parents on their side.
I feel very strongly that same parental involvement is crucially important if/when a child discloses that they believe to be anything other than the identity they carried up to such a point.
Children need the type of support and guidance that is best served when coming from parents and professional school personnel working together for the benefit and welfare of a child.
Feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
Cheryl Scuorzo
While serving on the MTPS BOE, Mr. Marshall learned of what he felt and believed to be unethical actions by the former superintendent and other administrative staff and filed related ethics complaints.
Despite being accused of filing frivolous and meritless complaints by the superintendent and back than Board President, Mr. Marshall stood his ground and his filing was escalated to the Office of Administrative Law, where it was subsequently heard by a judge.
While a decision was made arguing that such complaint did not fall under the definition of unethical, Mr. Marshall nonetheless, stood by his convictions as he felt that in his opinion the Board members and taxpayers were intentionally misled.
Furthermore, Mr. Marshall stated that had he not learned of the coming departure of who he believed to be the ex ethically challenged superintendent prior to his announcement, he would have pursued all available appeal options with an aim to further pursuit his ethics complaints at his own expense.
Thank you for your support!
